| Maybe I should update this little beautiful picture of my late adolescence.
Thoughts? | | |
| Ahoy hoy, gentle friends und bretheren :) I welcome you to a post with
a large amount of brackets. My thoughts are structured thus, and you're
just going to have to learn to deal with it.
Long year, eh?
We're all slightly older and quite possibly taller. Australia has
handed control of the country from the Liberals to the Labors, who then
passed it onto the ravers, who threw to the junkies, who tripped on
their shoelaces looking for patterns in the grass. The junkies were
then disqualified (much to the dismay of Western Sydney), and rightful
power was handed back to the Labors, who sent young Kevin Rudd out to
their frontline. The word so far? "Better"!
But this isn't the
place for stark (also incorrect and mind-numbingly oblique) political
commentary. We'll leave that to those myspace bloggers who actually do
this for a particular reason.
So, the long-delayed EP that I'm sure most of you have lost interest in-
(GEORGE: Hey, Hank, STH is finally releasing that demo! HANK: Well, that ain't gettin' you any closer to cleaning out the attic.)
-has
halted in it's already gradual process. The sudden explosion and
all-hell-breaking-loose-ness of my primary recording computer may or
may not be to blame (though, for the purposes of simplicity, let's just
say it was), but either way, STH's recording capabilities have severely
diminished. What does this mean for the poor hapless sods sitting out
on the street, desperate for some of my brain matter? It means I can't
give you any change, so stop asking me.
But apparently help
may be on the way. A large stint of full working days down at the store
in the coming week has given me hope. Within a couple of weeks, I hope
to have enough cash to be able to find someone who can sell me computer
parts wholesale, and build something up from scratch. Now, this could
yield many interesting results.
Result 1- Josh inadvertantly builds a sphere-shaped machine that has the ability to "slide" between parallel worlds.
Result 2- Much the same as the first, except interchangeable with "Time Machine" or "Amazing Robot".
Result 3- Josh
builds a dinosaur, by a freak accident in the chemical moulding
process. They're forced to share the same room. They don't get along.
But a store robbery gone wrong forces the two together in a way they
never thought possible; and by the end of the story, they're FRIENDS!
Sitcommage ensues.
Thus ends blog extravaganza part ONE. Tune in for real answers in a few hours, when I'm done fuming about the other imbecile that works in this store.
Later!

| you're up late into the night longer days trailing behind the wind swept sand into your face.
and beyond the harvest a head lies enraptured wrapped around the cover of a book eyes half closed for amiable sun.
and with voices that covered the green we approached and felt our way with sticky hands towards our unit
we stumbled in the sandy grass and left no prints for we were nothing but small the space above me was everything.
come, let me gaze.

the lover and the saint
bent over and under in cautious flames..
her skin lacks the pillow and aches
the creases from three days past wrinkle gracefully
curving upward
the bliss of dreamless sleep
she'll wander down the stairs, soft as a vein
crushing her toes to the carpet
and listening for the stream
that new rain has given motion.
a third day of timeless expanse
a recluse; to the simple and generous
she stirs for no sound
and knows, without malice
loves; without reason
she is unafraid, three nights have crawled out of the darkness
and given bloom to colour and day
the lover
and the saint. | | |
| So, it's become one of those wonderful days, where I'm actually given permission not to do anything at work. Days like this are a godsend. It's near Spring (well, vaguely); the sky has been remaining pretty consistently at that lovely jubilant blue tone. We've made about three sales today, even though we're having a week-long "All Vinyl Half-Price Sale!". This is the sacred cow of second-hand record dealers bargains; and we're being ignored! You bastards!
So, what's been on the grand ol' whiteboard of life recently? I'll demonstrate this in list form:
-New Shoes
-Contemporary Music Certificate IV at TAFE (the capitals make it credible; I promise)
-Writing/playing guitar/singing in Go Go Gadget Band!, Six Thinking Hats, and generally rocking more than is strictly necessary in Solo Artist.
-Joined up to exclusive (heh) Sydney band collective, The Birds Robe Collective. Very exciting, playing guitar on an upcoming EP with most of the acts involved! STAY TUNED!
-Going out to dinner with GW on Tuesday night (you'll remember, the one I used to mention in every second post.)
-Still working at the secondhand record shop in Chatswood! Finally gained more shifts/self-esteem, hoorah!
Okay, so this post is decidedly non-verbose, but fuck it. I'm that certain someone that needs to develop his everyday writing skills a little more. Oh, and on another note- recently wrote a play that was successfully directed and performed for a festival entitled Short and Sweet. This was a lovely experience; thanks to all who came :)
Artists I've Been Listening To-
-Modest Mouse -Kayo Dot -The Books -Cinematic Orchestra -Art Blakey -Time-Lapse Consortium -Bibio -Cornelius -Assorted acid-jazz compilations; namely those compiled by Gilles Peterson
Go see the Simpsons movie, kids, it's fantastic.
Keep it stowed safely in the overhead compartment,
Josh | | |
